The Memory Care neighborhood at Rock Ridge is thoughtfully designed to support residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Features include a monitored environment, easy-to-navigate common areas, comfortable gathering spaces, and dedicated areas for activities and engagement. The design encourages independence where possible while providing the support and structure residents may need throughout the day. Team members are available 24 hours a day to provide personalized assistance and compassionate care.
Residents in Memory Care at Rock Ridge enjoy a variety of activities designed to support cognitive wellness, encourage social connection, and create opportunities for success throughout the day. Programs may include music and movement, arts and crafts, sensory experiences, pet therapy visits, reminiscence activities, gardening projects, holiday celebrations, and opportunities to engage with familiar hobbies and interests. Each day is thoughtfully structured to balance engagement, comfort, and routine while helping residents maintain a sense of purpose and belonging. Yes. Residents enjoy chef-prepared meals and snacks each day as part of the Memory Care lifestyle. Dining is more than nourishment; it is an opportunity for connection and enjoyment. Throughout the year, residents may gather for themed dining experiences and seasonal celebrations, including Memorial Day barbecues, Thanksgiving feasts, Mardi Gras festivities complete with king cake, and other special events. Residents may also enjoy unique culinary experiences such as charcuterie-making classes and tastings, along with select outings into the local Rockwall community.
Life enrichment programs in Memory Care are designed to encourage creativity, social connection, and a sense of purpose. Yes. Legend is committed to providing advanced dementia education for our Memory Care teams. We require all Memory Care associates to go through the Certified Dementia Practitioner® (CDP®) training through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Each Legend Memory Care community has multiple certified associates who have completed specialized training in person-centered dementia care, communication, behavior support, safety practices, and daily care strategies.
A Certified Dementia Practitioner® is a professional who has completed formal dementia care training and demonstrated knowledge of person-centered care practices. The certification equips caregivers with advanced skills to better support individuals living with dementia through effective communication, understanding behavioral changes, and providing meaningful daily care. It reflects a commitment to ongoing education and delivering a higher standard of dementia care.
