Memory Care

Together Through the Journey

When someone you love is living with memory loss, you want to know they are cared for with the same compassion you would give. Memory Care at Legend is built on that responsibility, with caregivers who take the time to know each person, offer thoughtful support, and provide care that feels like family.

Meeting Them Where They Are, Every Day

No two journeys with Alzheimer's or dementia look the same, and neither should care. Legend’s approach adapts to each stage, each moment, and each individual need. The result is a rhythm of support that brings comfort, reduces stress, and helps each day feel a little more like home.

Thoughtful Memory Care Guided by Decades of Experience

Legend’s strategic approach to Memory Care is focused on improving the quality of life for each resident in a caring, therapeutic manner. Through decades of research and medical partnerships, we have developed Parallel Programming which is designed to provide each resident opportunities for activities promoting self-esteem and accomplishment at any level of cognitive ability.

Our structured method of care is based on a routine of activities that advance from sensory emotional, to physical, and into memory enhancing. Through repeated cycles, residents build on learning and progressively meaningful experiences. Therapies include innovative robotic bio-feedback therapy, life skills therapy, brain fitness exercises, music experiences, pet therapies, calming therapies, and more.

Specially trained associates will leverage years of experience with memory-related impairments to identify where your loved one is on their journey and use that knowledge to meet them at their point of need with caring support and comfort.

Personalized Memory Care Starts Here

When someone you love is living with memory loss, the details matter. At Legend, Tailored Services™ begin with a thorough assessment that includes your loved one, your family, and, if you choose, their physician or healthcare providers. By gathering insight from every perspective, we’re able to understand not just medical needs, but also personal history, routines, and what brings comfort or calm. This shared understanding becomes the foundation for a personalized plan of care created specifically for them. As needs change, the plan adjusts, ensuring consistent, thoughtful support at every stage. The result is care that feels more familiar, more reassuring, and truly centered on the individual.

Every Life Has a Story

Our trained staff works closely with family members and friends to assemble a Life Story Book, identifying the personal experiences of each resident. Through this story, we get to know the personality behind the person, fostering a relationship more like friend-to-friend rather than staff-to-patient.

Details and events from your loved one’s past become shared memories and experiences serving as a foundation for activities, communication, and the development of friendships built on support, understanding, and mutual respect.

Planned experiences that are both purposeful and therapeutic support each resident’s ability to engage in their daily living environment while preserving memories and motor skills. Utilizing these concepts supports our goals of meeting each resident at their own point of need, thereby enhancing their feelings of self-worth, joy and comfort.

Compassion and Expertise
Every Day

Our associates are specially trained in the Best Friends™ Approach (a relationship-based model developed by Virginia Bell and David Troxel) to memory care, which is built on the simple idea that relationships are at the heart of quality care. By knowing each resident’s life story, favorite activities, and personal preferences, associates can connect like a best friend would—with patience, respect, humor, and empathy. This means conversations that spark memories, routines that feel familiar, and activities that bring genuine joy. It’s a way of caring that helps every resident feel safe, valued, and truly understood.

Frequently Asked Questions

Memory care may be the right fit if your loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia, shows signs of confusion or wandering, or needs a secure environment with supportive associates.

It may be the right step when home no longer feels safe or daily routines have become too hard to manage. Signs can include wandering, confusion, or challenges keeping up with meals and medications.

Our associates help with personal care, medication, meals, and routines, while encouraging independence whenever possible. Licensed nurses are also here for added support.

We offer programs that match each person’s abilities and interests—things like music, crafts, walks, and other familiar activities that bring comfort and joy.

Additionally, Legend Memory Care employs parallel programming, a person-centered, individualized activity approach that allows residents with varying cognitive abilities and dementia stages to engage simultaneously in tailored activities. It ensures everyone finds a suitable, purposeful task, accommodating both those who prefer active, social games and those needing quiet, sensory experiences. One resident may participate in a group game while another engages in a parallel, individualized activity in the same space that fits their specific needs.

The cost of memory care varies depending on the type of apartment you choose and the level of support needed. At Legend, one monthly rate covers a private living space, daily meals, housekeeping, and personalized care. That includes help with bathing, dressing, and medications, plus access to enriching activities, secure gathering spaces, and caring associates available day and night. Families also receive regular updates and opportunities to stay involved.

Yes. Legend is committed to providing advanced dementia education for our Memory Care teams. We require all Memory Care associates to go through the Certified Dementia Practitioner® (CDP®) training through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. Each Legend Memory Care community has multiple certified associates who have completed specialized training in person-centered dementia care, communication, behavior support, safety practices, and daily care strategies.

A Certified Dementia Practitioner® is a professional who has completed formal dementia care training and demonstrated knowledge of person-centered care practices. The certification equips caregivers with advanced skills to better support individuals living with dementia through effective communication, understanding behavioral changes, and providing meaningful daily care. It reflects a commitment to ongoing education and delivering a higher standard of dementia care.
