Parkwood Village Achieves Deficiency-free Rating

Parkwood Village, an assisted living and memory care residence in Pratt, Kansas, has achieved a deficiency-free survey from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS).

“It is very difficult and a huge accomplishment to obtain a deficiency free survey,” said Kristin Sutton, Regional Health Care Director for Kansas and Colorado. “Assisted living residences are under increasing regulatory scrutiny with each passing year, and we continue to strive to meet or exceed the highest levels of quality care for seniors.”

Each senior living residence in the state must pass an annual re-licensure survey by KDADS. The process measures how well a residence is doing from a quality and compliance standpoint. The KDADS survey team arrives unannounced to interview staff, observe care and procedures, and check resident records for compliance to regulations on care, confidentiality, cleanliness, residents’ rights, and quality of services. 

A deficiency-free survey is an impressive thing for any assisted living home to accomplish, Sutton said. “The average number of deficiencies cited during inspection of a nursing facility is 7.2 nationally. In Kansas, the average is 10.3, according to KDADS in 2018.
