Innovative Memory Care

Legend Senior Living offers innovative therapies for senior Memory Care residents, including the use of PARO, an FDA-approved therapeutic robotic seal. PARO combines robotics and bio-feedback technologies to respond to human interaction much like a living animal would.

Research shows that petting and interacting with this biofeedback seal helps reduce stress and depression in people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, providing powerful experiences that soothe residents struggling with anxiety, agitation, wandering, loneliness, and even physical pain. Interaction with a PARO uses neuroplasticity, or the brain’s ability to adapt by forming new neural pathways, to allow the brain to reconnect old memories and build new ones.

Biofeedback therapy with PARO is only one of many innovative, science-based therapies used at Legend Senior Living, which continues to lead the way in neuroplasticity programming for Memory Care.

Hear a Story, Share a Lifetime.

At Legend Senior Living, we recognize the importance of a life well lived and the value of those experiences. Each resident in our memory care residences have a book containing their life story; capturing significant events, personal interests, and fond memories. While focusing on the complete wellness of residents in our care, associates and residents will periodically revisit their life story, deepening their shared connections. Our approach to care is based on 20 years of our extensive research, experience, and knowledge. You and your family can be sure to find specialized care, comfort, and reassurance in an environment that incorporates care and service with the warmth and comfort of home.

How Memory Care Living Is Different From Other Living Options

Memory care living is perhaps the most specialized living option at Legend Senior Living. Memory care residences are designed especially for adults living with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia. We have created the residence and our programming to meet the challenges that can come with cognitive decline.

What does this mean for you or your loved one? It means that associates work hard to create an environment that feels comfortable and secure so that you or your loved one feels comfortable and secure. It means associates learn best practices in dementia care and tailors our interventions to the preferences of your loved one so that we can help your loved one sleep better, socialize with new friends, and eat nutritious foods based on their own abilities. It also means we will adjust and adapt our interventions as your loved one’s condition evolves.

Is Memory Care a Good Fit for You or Your Loved One?

You or your loved one might be a good fit for memory care living if you can answer “yes” to any of the following questions:

- Is there a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia?

- Is there a history of confusion, including wandering out of the home?

- Are you worried about safety?

While someone living in the very early stage of dementia can manage safety and personal care tasks well, the need for support will increase as the disease progresses. Be sure you find a memory care residence sooner than later so that the senior can be involved with the process and so there is not an emergency situation.
