COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (DECEMBER 14, 2020) John McKinnon, has been named Sales Director for the new Legend of Colorado Springs (CO), a Legend Senior Living® community that is scheduled to open January 5, 2021. Legend Senior Living is a Wichita-based company that owns and operates 41 communities in six states.
“It’s hard to imagine better credentials for a sales director than John’s, having made his way from Sales Representative to Sales Manager to Executive Director responsible for every aspect of a major senior living provider,” said Karen Stewart, Legend of Colorado Springs Residence Director. “We are so fortunate and excited to have someone of John’s caliber directing sales for our groundbreaking senior living community.”
As Legend of Colorado Springs Sales Director, McKinnon will work closely with his colleagues to ensure that their teams have the sales support and resources to offer residents and their families the best solutions for their needs.
“I was lucky to find my passion early in my career. I knew from my early days as a Sales Representative on that working with older adults and their families was where my talent lay and where I could make a difference,” said McKinnon. “I have been drawn to Legend the more I learned of the history of the Legend company, its founder and its core principles.”
McKinnon comes to Legend with significant senior living experience in Colorado Springs. His strengths are educating families on residency options. He also counseled families on the move-in process and the difficult adjustment into a community. His marketing and outreach among the business community developed resources key to improving and growing the residences and has contributed to his intimate knowledge of the Colorado Springs community at large.
He has a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Colorado State University Pueblo. As a volunteer executive of Chair Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the Colorado Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association, McKinnon has helped grow participation and exceed fund-raising goals for the walk year-over-year since joining the cause four years ago.
“John’s genuine interest in serving seniors first is proven in both his personal and professional life,” Stewart added. “His experience and insight into the Colorado Springs community is invaluable. He’s also a perfect fit for Legend culture and the whole team is excited about how much he’ll bring to our mission.”
