Legend of Colorado Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care, a Legend Senior Living® residence opening this winter, has announced the hiring of Jacob Hillmann as Maintenance Director.

Hillmann will supervise and schedule the maintenance staff and oversee the operation of the entire campus, the latest of Legend’s 42 residences that will be open by the end of 2020. He will also be responsible for supervising third-party service and construction vendors, such as fire and security systems, repair services and cable providers.

“Legend of Colorado Springs represents the latest innovations of Legend Senior Living,” said Karen Stewart, Residence Director. “You could say it’s a culmination of more than three decades of experience and expertise we’ve acquired since our founder pioneered the Assisted Living concept.

“Jacob’s role as Maintenance Director extends much further than the operation of the physical building and its mechanical functions. The environment is key to the Legend concept, promoting a vibrant, purposeful life through purposeful design. Organization and maintenance of the environment must be seamless and transparent to the residents.”

Hillman’s own background and training include plenty of experience with the physical plant but go a good deal deeper. Hillman grew up on the eastern plains of Colorado, joining the local fire department while he was still in high school. After moving to Colorado Springs to attend college, he worked in building management and achieved a National Emergency Medical Technician Certificate as he continued to volunteer at his hometown fire department.

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2017, he joined the Air Force Reserves to perform Aeromedical Evacuation. “I returned from my initial training in 2019 and began searching for a position that fit my unique skillset,” said Hillman. “I found Legend of Colorado Springs and was drawn to a position that is more than just building management. I found a perfect fit at Legend, where I can serve the senior residence using all of my varied skills.”

“We’re fortunate and excited to have someone with Jacob’s broad credentials and his rare combination of building operation, health care experience and passion to serve seniors and the Legend mission,” said Stewart.
