Legend at Rivendell Names James Lauderdale Residence Director

Legend at Rivendell has announced the hiring of James Lauderdale as Residence Director for its Assisted Living residence. The senior living community, which also includes a stand-alone Memory Care residence, is owned and operated by Legend Senior Living^®, a Wichita-based company with 41 residences in six states.

“James comes to Legend with great experience in senior living,” said Lynne Davis, Regional Director of Operations for Oklahoma. “He’s passionate about our residents and our associates. He’s kind, warm, and a true people person with a generous and compassionate heart.”

“As Residence Director, my first priorities are listening, learning, and relationship development,” Lauderdale said. His responsibilities include oversight of all operational and fiscal obligations of the community. He manages the day-to-day operations of the residence with intense focus on customer service and provides a warm, home-like atmosphere for residents’ experience and comfort.

“James’ short-term goal is to connect with residents, their families and our associates in a meaningful way,” Davis said. “His long-term goal is to maintain Rivendell’s reputation as the best assisted living in South Oklahoma City.”

Lauderdale has been working in senior living for eight years in a variety of roles, including developing a residence from construction to commission as Executive Director. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and a master’s of business administration with emphasis in leadership and organizational management. He’s currently pursuing a degree in healthcare administration.

“I like working in senior care, serving the Greatest Generation,” Lauderdale said. “As people mature, they’re that much richer in life experiences. For me, it’s about giving a little and getting much back in return.”

Lauderdale said he wanted to work for Legend Senior Living in part because it offers greater resources and training opportunities, but primarily because of the company’s mission and vision. “You have to have a plan to launch from,” he said. “In the life business, wants and needs change day in and day out. However, if we aren’t focused on our values and mission, we become ineffective and inefficient.”
