Rivermont Assisted Living and Memory Care Achieves Deficiency-Free Infection Control Survey During COVID-19 Outbreak

Rivermont Assisted Living and Memory Care, a Legend Senior Living® residence in Norman, Oklahoma, has achieved a zero-deficiency infection control survey from the Oklahoma Department of Health (ODH). The residence joined Legend at Rivendell, Oklahoma City, in achieving deficiency-free status in their annual re-licensure surveys.

“To reach our goal of zero deficiencies in every Legend community, we strive to exceed required standards for all of the six states in which we operate. With the coronavirus pandemic, we implemented infection control precautions, and completed thousands of hours of training in order to equip associates and residents with the information and skills needed to reduce their risk of infection,” said Kristin Sutton, RN, BSN, Vice President of Clinical Services for Legend Senior Living. “The survey results speak volumes to the staff’s commitment to the residence and the residents we serve. This accomplishment offers residents and their families peace of mind knowing that the residence is operating at or above the highest standard of quality service, environment and care.”

Each senior living residence in Oklahoma must pass an unannounced infection control survey. Surveyors conduct observations, documentation reviews and interviews with staff, residents and families, which drive the outcomes of the survey and highlight any potential areas that would require further review.

During an inspection, ODH surveyors review a sampling of clinical records, policies and procedures, and other relevant documents. They also conduct interviews with residents, family members, staff, visitors and volunteers.

Each Legend Senior Living residence conducts its business to be survey-ready every day. “We accomplish this through our quality management and quality review processes to ensure all regulatory items are at or exceeding compliance standards,” Sutton said.
