Argentum, the leading national association of companies operating resident-centered senior living communities, released its “2021 150 Largest Providers Report,” which lists Wichita company Legend Senior Living® as the nation’s 45th largest senior living provider overall and 30th largest Assisted Living provider. When ranked by overall operational resident capacity, Legend comes in at 43rd with 3,352 total resident capacity. The report is compiled in association with Lument, a national leader in commercial real estate finance, and sponsored by FOX Rehabilitation, a private practice of physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Legend Senior Living is a family-owned-and-operated company with 42 residences in six states, including Independent Living, Assisted Living/Personal Care, and Memory Care. Windsor Pointe of Jacksonville, opening in October, will bring the number of Legend residences to 43.

“We’re very honored to be ranked so highly among senior living providers,” said Matt Buchanan, Executive Vice President of Legend Senior Living. “It reflects not just our success as a growing organization but how dedication to our mission to serve the health of seniors first has made us the choice of older adults.”

Legend employs 1,955 to service a total of 3,210 units. Under the year’s highlights the report includes the opening of Legend of Colorado Springs in late 2020 and the upcoming opening of Windsor Pointe of Jacksonville in fall 2021, which will increase the number of residential units and employees. While some of the companies in the list have provided senior care longer than the Wichita company, founder and CEO Tim Buchanan helped pioneer the industry.

“Since then, the company has been a national leader because of our innovation in therapy and programming, our leading-edge residence design and architecture, and our mission-oriented, individual approach to wellness,” said Buchanan.

Buchanan said the annual publication is important because it logs trends among the major companies providing senior living as well as giving us a snapshot of national growth.
