With a view featuring Pikes Peak and senior living featuring the latest developments in assistive design and care, Legend of Colorado Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care, a Legend Senior Living® community, has now opened its doors for operation. Legend Senior Living is a Wichita-based senior living company that owns and operates 42 residences in six states. Windsor Pointe Vibrant Independent Living of Jacksonville (FL), Legend’s 43rd residence, will open later this year.

“We’re so excited to bring this new concept in senior living to Colorado Springs,” said Legend Residence Director Karen Stewart. “The day we’ve been waiting for has arrived, all parts of the building completed and apartments ready for move-in. We’ll be very busy in the next several weeks, with new residents who have already reserved their apartments beginning to move-in.”

Stewart emphasized that Legend is accepting residents for immediate move-in and that Legend will observe stringent COVID-19 protocols and screening of all residents and personnel. The two-story mountain-view residence offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments in various configurations.

Located next to Focus on the Family in the Briargate neighborhood, Legend of Colorado Springs will make the most of the surrounding Rockies. Apartments provide a panoramic view of the Aspens, with shopping and entertainment, and the region’s major medical facilities just minutes away.

“Our innovative, purposeful architecture and interior design brings a fresh approach to vibrant senior living, and at the same time make assisted living and navigation easy,” added John McKinnon, Sales Director. “The halls are wider to promote independence. An abundance of Colorado natural light fills the residence, with thirty colors and décor scientifically coordinated to assist in travel, promote independence and provide modern beauty.”

“And that’s just the very important physical distinction of Legend. Our most significant difference is in our residence life and individualized care.”

Private tours feature the core of the Legend Senior Living approach to assisted living and memory care, which emphasizes independence, dignity and a purposeful life, said Stewart. Legend of Colorado Springs features the restaurant-style Penrose Dining Room (named for Colorado Springs philanthropist Spencer Penrose), a 24-hour bistro, and plenty of exercise and activity spaces. Carefully landscaped grounds, an enclosed courtyard and dog park are highlights of the exterior.

Legend’s founder, Tim Buchanan, was a pioneer of the Assisted Living concept over 30 years ago. Legend has continuously evolved its approach along with the discoveries of the science of aging and cognitive care.

“This marvelous building is created to support community, socialization, life enrichment and the most advanced programming in today’s memory care,” said Stewart. “Senior care is our first and foremost priority. As our mission states it, to serve the whole person, physically, mentally and spiritually. So, the whole design really starts there. We talk as much about Life Enrichment programs, compassionate professional care and the vital role residence plays in prolonging a quality life and enhancing memory function for those with dementia as we do the living space.”
